Service Opportunities

Outside the classroom Unity students are called to put their faith into action and serve. Throughout the year students have opportunities to serve by volunteering and dedicating themselves in assisting our local community.

Upcoming Service Opportunities

As we get ready to start a new school year, we are looking for opportunities for our students to serve. If you are aware of ways our students or staff could serve, please contact Scott Soodsma (616-669-1820).

Adams Park Christmas Party

Adams Park Apartments is a public housing complex for low income, elderly, or disabled residents

  • Each year Unity at the beginning of December hosts a Christmas Party for all of the residents in Adams Park
  • Students “adopt” a resident and create a Christmas gift basket for their resident with baked goods and smaller essentials
  • Students then bring their gift baskets to the residents
  • The residents are all invited to join the students to eat dinner and treats while singing Christmas Carols

Compassionate Heart

Promoting community for individuals with disabilities while building lasting relationships

  • Students leave right after school one day, every other week
  • Students mentor teens and young adults with disabilities
  • Activities include playing games, watching movies, or just talking with the kids

Other Service Projects

Our Crusaders are also serving at Gilda’s Club, Hand2Hand, and Revive Resale.
