Service Opportunities

Outside the classroom Unity students are called to put their faith into action and serve. Throughout the year students have opportunities to serve by volunteering and dedicating themselves in assisting our local community.

Upcoming Service Opportunities

We are off to a great start this school year with many opportunities for students to get involved in service. We have a number of upcoming opportunities that involve a wide range of different activities. We are always looking for new & additional opportunities. Adams Park Christmas Party

Adams Park Apartments is a public housing complex for low income, elderly, or disabled residents

  • Each year Unity at the beginning of December hosts a Christmas Party for all of the residents in Adams Park
  • Students “adopt” a resident and create a Christmas gift basket for their resident with baked goods and smaller essentials
  • Students then bring their gift baskets to the residents
  • The residents are all invited to join the students to eat dinner and treats while singing Christmas Carols

Kids Food Basket

Attacking Childhood Hunger in Grand Rapids

  • On the first Thursday of every month, students leave after school with transportation being provided
  • Students help pack daily lunches for over 4,800 students who have no food available to them once they leave school

Compassionate Hearts

Promoting community for individuals with disabilities while building lasting relationships

  • Students leave right after school one day, every other week
  • Students mentor teens and young adults with disabilities
  • Activities include playing games, watching movies, or just talking with the kids
