Unity Christian High School and Wedgewood Christian Services, through The Infusion Project, present the following community event:

“Everybody Does It” – Talking with our students about vaping and marijuana

Ottawa County Health Department research states twenty-five percent of high school seniors vaped in the past thirty days. Students in school believe the percentage to be significantly higher. And marijuana, although not as accessible to teenagers as vapes, is viewed by young people as a “safe” practice.

While policymakers debate enforcement and regulation, parents and schools are left to address these potentially addictive behaviors with students.

Join us at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13 at Unity to learn more about these issues. We have invited Wedgwood Christian Services to partner with us in educating parents and community members through a presentation on vaping and its connection to marijuana. At this meeting we will:

  • Create an understanding of “vape culture” and why it is of particular concern for teenagers.
  • Learn how the legalization of marijuana is impacting teenagers.
  • Describe how Unity addresses these issues with students to create both knowledge and understanding through a Biblical lens.
  • Understand how Unity is prepared to help students who experiment, struggle, or become addicted.
  • Answer questions parents or community members may have.

This event will occur in conjunction with student chapels during the week. We have invited Unity graduate and Ottawa County Sergeant Ryan DeVries to speak with our student body on Wednesday, November 13. The following day our chapel will focus on facing difficult issues through the lens of faith. Parents are invited to join us for these chapels.
